This recipe is a real gem – and to dress it up to make it even more special, I usually put 1/2 pecan on top of each tart before baking
Best ever Butter Tarts:
1 pastry recipe
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup of butter
1 cup of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of milk
1/2 cup of raisins, currants or chopped pecans
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Prepare pastry, roll 1/8″thick and cut into 4″rounds. Press into medium size tart pans. Mix all ingredients together, fill part shells 2/3 full. Bake in hot oven (450F) for 8 minutes; reduce temperature to 350F and bake for 15-20 minutes longer or until pastry is delicately brown.
This recipe will make 12 – 15 tarts – if you want to make more, it can be doubled without a problem.
