Are they bugging you? I tell you, we have what seems to be a permanent ant home just outside the back of our house and they just love to get into our family room. We have tried all kinds of repellents and ant killers available on the market but the little pests keep coming back! So I researched some other ways to try to get rid of them and I am going to try them now. If you have the same problem, try these and let me know how it worked for you!
For Ants on the Counter:Â
Wipe the counter down with undiluted white vinegar.
To Prevent Ants from Coming in the House:
Sprinkle dried mint or red pepper where they are entering the house and if you need to, into the cupboards.
To Get Rid of Anthills:
Pour 3 gallons of boiling water down the anthill. This is best done when ants are active and near the surface. Do not do this close to flowers or they will die too.
Another Way to Kill Ants:
Mix a combination of 50% Borax and 50% confectioner’s sugar. Place this mixture on cardboard or a piece of board near the ant hill. The ants are attracted by the sugar and carry the fatal Borax/sugar combination back to the nest to feed the queen and other ants. Caution: Do not place this where children or pets can ingest the mixture.
Hope these tips will help you get rid of the pesky ants – send me your comments or suggestions, your input is always welcomed and much appreciated!
